Johann Aloys Senefelder fue el inventor alemán creador de la litografía en 1796. En un principio la llamó impresión química, y casi dos décadas más tarde, cuando ya era famoso su taller de impresión en Múnich, publicó el tratado con el nombre litografía: A complete course of lithography.
